Philosophical Borrel: the Power of Protest

*This event is hosted at the European Association of Institutes for Vocational training (EVBB) pavilion.

Organised by EVBB

Young people are protesting. In Brussels and elsewhere, it has been a 'hot winter' of school strikes calling for ambitious climate policy. We take this cue, among others, to talk together about protest. When we for instance ask ourselves why people are in the street, why now, or for that matter why more people aren't protesting, we can benefit from taking a step back and investigating protest itself.

The oldest way of doing philosophy isn't about reading books but being engaged in a dialogue. This event is open to anyone who wants to experience and practice philosophy in an informal, flexible and amiable setting. Our format requires neither preparation, nor being able to name-drop great philosophers. Nor is the idea to share (best) practices of protest. We try to reflect on protesting itself and in turn on ourselves and our beliefs and convictions by posing philosophical questions with a moderator guiding the discussion.
